MAN eTGX (Gen-2, IAA 2026)

MAN's electric flagship, rebuilt for the 2026 IAA with nickel-rich cells that add roughly 10% more energy in the same physical space. It is aimed squarely at 40-tonne long-haul work that used to be considered out of reach for a battery truck, and it is the range leader of the two trucks on this site. It is also the more expensive one by a wide margin.

1Key specifications

Key specifications
Specification6×2 tractor, seven packs4×2 tractor, six packs
Axle configuration6x24x2
Battery packs7 official6 official
Battery capacity660 kWh official
why

Net capacity, stated by MAN at the Munich press conference. The pre-Gen-2 seven-pack figure was 623 kWh; the nickel-rich cells add about 10%.

587 kWh derived
why

Derived: MAN's pre-Gen-2 six-pack figure of 534 kWh usable, plus the roughly 10% the new cells add. MAN has not published the Gen-2 six-pack capacity.

Range — claimed720 km official
why

MAN's headline figure for the Gen-2 6×2.

660 km official
why

Up from 570 km on the previous generation.

Range — loaded640 km estimate
why

Our estimate: claimed range less roughly 11%, the usual gap between a headline figure and full legal payload on a motorway.

590 km estimate
why

Our estimate, same 11% haircut as the 6×2.

Range — realistic band500–550 km estimate
why

What we would schedule against year-round. Winter, traffic and an arrival reserve included.

450–500 km estimate
Power333–598 hp reported
why

MAN raised the top output to around 600 hp for the Gen-2. The lower figure is the entry drive.

333–598 hp reported
Charging power, max750 kW official
why

Megawatt Charging System, up to 1000 A at 750 V.

750 kW official
Charge 20–80%40 min official
why

MAN quotes under 40 minutes for the seven-pack chassis at 623 kWh. The Gen-2 pack is larger, so treat 40 minutes as the floor, not the ceiling.

30 min official
why

Under 30 minutes for the six-pack at 534 kWh.

Price, indicative€260 000–€320 000 estimate
why

Indicative list price for a long-haul specification. Not a quote. Fleet pricing lands lower.

€220 000–€280 000 estimate
why

Indicative. Shorter wheelbase, one pack fewer.

2What "range" means here

MAN's 720 km is a real number under favourable conditions, but it is not a scheduling number. The gap between the headline and a January motorway run at 40 tonnes is large — that is what the realistic band is for. On a Belgian duty of around 400 km a day, every version here does the job on one overnight charge at the depot, which is the case that matters for cost.

Three different numbers

  • 1Claimed. The manufacturer's headline figure. Best case: favourable load, temperature and speed. Do not schedule on this.
  • 2Loaded. At full legal payload on a typical motorway duty in mild weather. The honest starting point.
  • 3Realistic. What a planner should actually schedule against, year-round, including winter, traffic and a safety reserve.

3Charging

The eTGX is MCS-ready from the factory since July 2026, charging at up to 750 kW. That is enough to add most of a battery over a driver's 45-minute rest. It does not mean you need it: for a depot-based fleet doing under 500 km a day, overnight DC charging at far lower power is cheaper per kWh and cheaper to install. Megawatt charging is what makes the long days possible, not what makes the business case.

4Price and running cost

The purchase price is the whole argument. At an indicative €260k–320k the eTGX costs roughly €60k–120k more than the Windrose R700, and in Belgium that gap has to come back out of fuel and toll savings. Whether it does depends on your fleet size, annual mileage and diesel price — which is exactly what the calculators on this site are for.

The prices on this page are estimates. No European list price is published for a fleet specification of this truck. Use them to frame the question, then put the real quote into the full business case, which lets you type your own purchase price.
