Windrose R700
A Class 8 electric tractor from the Belgian-Chinese manufacturer Windrose, homologated for the US, the EU and China — an unusually broad approval for a young company. It is the price reference on this site: markedly cheaper than the established European makes, with a large battery and high output, but without the dealer and service network that a European fleet takes for granted.
How solid is this page? The price is solid — Windrose publishes a European list price itself. The technical figures are not. Windrose publishes little, and the trade press contradicts itself on power (1040 against 1400 hp) and on range (676 against 640 km). Where sources disagree we show the spread rather than pick a winner.

2What "range" means here
Windrose states its range against a stated load — 420 miles at 98 000 lb — which is more honest than most headline figures and lands at about 676 km. The 960 km number that circulates is an ideal-conditions figure and is not useful for planning. Our realistic band is the same 500–550 km the rest of this site has always used.
Three different numbers
- 1Claimed. The manufacturer's headline figure. Best case: favourable load, temperature and speed. Do not schedule on this.
- 2Loaded. At full legal payload on a typical motorway duty in mild weather. The honest starting point.
- 3Realistic. What a planner should actually schedule against, year-round, including winter, traffic and a safety reserve.
3Charging
The R700 runs an 800 V architecture with dual-inlet megawatt charging, so it is built for fast top-ups. Windrose has not published a maximum charging power or a 20-to-80% time, so we do not quote one. For a depot-based Belgian duty this matters less than it sounds: the truck charges overnight.
4Price and running cost
This is the cheap truck, and now firmly so: Windrose lists EUR 198 000 for Europe on its own order page, excluding local taxes. Do not be misled by the $250 000 to $300 000 that US coverage quotes — that is the American price with import tariffs of up to 70% baked in, and it does not apply to a Belgian buyer. Against an indicative EUR 260 000 to 320 000 for the MAN eTGX, the gap is real and large, and it is what the business case on this site turns on.
This price comes from the manufacturer. It is a list price excluding local taxes, not a quote for your fleet. Put the figure you are actually offered into the full business case, which lets you type your own purchase price.
