Manufacturers quote range under conditions you will not have. This works the other way round: start from the loaded range, then apply what your duty actually looks like. The result is a planning number, not a promise.
What this does, exactly
It takes the loaded range and multiplies it by four factors: how full the truck is, how fast you drive, how cold it is, and what kind of road. Then it holds back 20% as an arrival reserve, because nobody plans to arrive empty.
Every one of those multipliers is our estimate, not manufacturer data, and they are deliberately cautious. They live in data/trucks.json under planning_factors if you disagree with them.
